IGJ vs provincial registries

Last verified: 24 Oct 2026 · Status: Changing

Corporate registration is provincial. The IGJ registers companies domiciled in the City of Buenos Aires. Each province has its own public registry with its own resolutions, timelines and fees. Choice of domicile therefore affects speed and rules.

Key rules

  • IGJ. National agency with jurisdiction only over the City of Buenos Aires, ruled mainly by RG IGJ 15/24 as amended (including 1/2026, 3/2026, 4/2026 and 11/2026).
  • Provinces. For example, the Buenos Aires province registry is the DPPJ; Córdoba uses the Dirección de Inspección de Personas Jurídicas. Each sets its own requirements.
  • Moving domicile. Changing the registered domicile between jurisdictions requires registration in both.
